Comments:

Lived in Jacksonville since 1995. Retired from insurance industry in 2009. Worked as Sr Med Underwriter and Und AVP for life/health ins co. Have 5 grandchildren - Blessed to have both children and all grandchildren close by.

As much as I would like to attend this reunion I'm faced with a couple of challanges that make it impossible. My husband, Wayne is on the transplant list - here at Mayo in Jacksonville - for a new liver. Since I'm his primary caregiver, neither of us can be more than 4 hours away from the hospital. We await the call that will mean immediate surgery. Since we have no idea when that will happen it's hard to make any plans. Also, my daugher, Anna is in her first pregnancy and expecting twins - sometime in August/Sept. She is being treated as a high risk pregnancy due to her age and because of the multiples. Obviously, our family stays in pray, most of the time, because of both health situations.
Wayne has been ill for 3-4 years now and surgery is his only option for a 'healthy' recovery. Anna and her husband have been married for 13 years so this pregnancy is a blessing - and we're hoping for normal delivery and health babies.
Hope to remain in contact with many friends, etc. on this website - even after the reunion.

School Story:

Moved to Georgia in 1967 - attended Georgia State Univ., in Atlanta.

2016 has been eventful for a couple of reasons. My husband, Wayne, passed away in March after a long illness with liver disease. He had a transplant in 2011 and subsequently developed multiple other problems. I had been in a caretaker role since about 2004 so this year I'm catching up on things that needed to be taken care of (primarily cataract surgery on both eyes). I'm so amazed how well I can see now (had worn glasses since I was 15) so this is a real treat.
For those of you who knew me pretty well, I was raised by my grandparents, Carl & Anna Behrens. They had me since my birth and subsequently adopted me when I was 12 years of age. My biological mother was 15 yrs at my birth and my biological father was 17. He was unknown to my family but as the years went by I was given his name when I was in my mid 40's. The last few years, with help from my computer, etc., I located him and his family. He passed away 2 years before I located him but I learned I have 1 sister and 5 brothers, all living in Oregon. In May of this year, my sister and one brother were in Hilton Head, SC and contacted me, so I was able to go up there and we had a wonderful time getting to know each other. Was quite the experience.
Because of Wayne's declining health over the years, my daughter, Anna and her family moved in with me to help in his care. He would fall frequently and my son-in-law, Eric was the only one strong enough to help him get up. Anna has three little girls, twins that turned 5 in July and a little one that turned 2 in August. Having these little ones in the house has sure 'helped' keep me more active. I do enjoy them so much. I have 7 other grands - from 16 to 23 and they are wonderful as well. Would enjoy hearing from any of you and getting updates on your family(ies) as well. Still in Jacksonville, Florida.

I apologize ahead of time - I can't remember names of everyone. Most can be recognized - Angelo Maragos, Charles Steffan, Jane Thompson, Beverly Coons, Kathy Montgomery, Gary Luedke, Janice Collins, Sandra Iverson, Me - Neal Becker,Gloria Cummings, Sandra Borgers, Steven Kielhack, Michael Jordahl, etc. Back then I didn't realize I'd need their names - 50 years later.

1957-1958 was the year that Erik Ramstead Jr High was opened. (At that time included 7, 8 and 9th grade) MHS class of 1961 was the first 9th grade class at Ramstead.

Taken in the gym at Ramstead; Susie Littler was one of the cheerleaders there as well.

Remember teachers like Oden Bryn, Hayden Williams, Mrs. Fiedler, Ms. Petrucchi.

One of my most vivid memories of Ramstead, "Gary Kelly had his own car". That was a big deal.

Sandra and I started playing the violin in the third grade - subsequently, ending up with same teacher and began playing in quartets, etc. around town. Seemed to always be playing duets as well - which we kept up through high school.

Orchestra concert put on in 10th grade. Quite dramatic actually, since most of us had never seen a "black light" before. The smoke was primarily 'a sulfur base' and really created quite a smell in the auditorium.
